Albuquerque

 We woke up refreshed & no pain. That is the way to start a day!! We had a nice big leisurely  breakfast for a change!

While we were still at Red Rock Park we drove to see the Church Rock, hoodoos, & Pyramid Rock. We did not hike as it 








We went to Fort Wingate but it was closed up. It's pretty old!!


We stopped at the Continental Divide.




We went to New Mexico Mining Museum. They have a uranium mine set up underground which was very interesting.













Here is a drive through Route 66 sign. The road to get on it had a sharp turn so Steve didn't want to take the trailer through.




Lastly, we went to Grant's  Riverwalk Park but it was very cold & windy so we didn't do the Riverwalk & the picnic was in the car.

Last stop Albuquerque. We are staying at Coronado Campground, very nice, run by the city.We have hookups & were ready to end the day. Steve BBQ 'd in our campground shelter, but alas, still no s'more weather. I'm thinking we do them in the microwave!!


I know this hasn't been too entertaining yet but we will be in Branson & New Orleans the week of April 7th. In the meantime we plod along through Texas & Oklahoma.

Lee's Ferry & Flagstaff

We were about three hours late leaving, because we had to pick up the trailer & leave the same day due to parking restrictions. We got my mom settled into the Beehive Home the day before. What a blessed break this is going to be! We had a nice campsite. We had a glitch with the battery so lights were dim & the refrigerator wouldn't work. We have a cooler Steve started propane. The lights also got better but those batteries sat for a long time at home! Lee's Ferry Navajo bridge connected the two ends of Arizona across the Colorado River in 1929. Before that, from 1871, Mormon settlers, used the ferry on what was known as the Honeymoon Trail, between the newer Northern Arizona settlements to get married at the St. George Temple & return to Arizona We had a campsite near the Colorado River The other pics are on the way & of the old & new bridge. Legs of Amarillo, a Prize Bull & Oklahoma or bust!!

 Sunday am we headed out to Oklahoma. On our way from Palo Duro Canyon, we spied the Legs of Amarillo. They say everything is bigger in Texas as these pics show.  We ate a Sunday lunch at the "famous" Big Texan. Some people try to eat a 72 oz steak.(not us) Delicious & very cute.  We cruised Amarillo Route 66. It was in terrible condition. Not even a picture worthy Motel. This is the iconic Conoco-You Drop Inn in Shamrock Tx. I actually had a Shamrock Shake in Shamrock, Texas! We camped out at Elk City Lake Park, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the sun was in my eyes & the camera was reversed , & I was heartbroken because I wanted you to see how close we were to the lake. Thank you google for borrowed photos. We were literally on the grass by the water! Not bad at $15. with electric & water!! Perils of the Pikes!

 When we got to Flagstaff Monday night it started raining & a little snow mix. ❄️ This happened all night. I was sure we would be stuck in Flagstaff. Steve hooked up the electric but our heater didn't work. So we froze but survived. Steve thought maybe the heater only runs on propane but he hadn't hooked up our tank. Soup in the microwave was dinner. The snow started coming down Tuesday AM so we were glad to put Flagstaff in the rear view mirror. We had snow, slush, hail & almost constant rain but it was a long ride through the desert & not worrisome at 60mph for our car. So to top it off, I had back spasms all day. It really hurt to sit! This wasn't the part of my back that I got shots in. I took a muscle relaxer & a 1/2 pain pill so I hope to sleep tonight as I have been terribly sleep deprived!
